Databricks Architect / Senior Data Engineer (Contract)
Location: Brazil (Remote – supporting US-based clients)
Contract Length: 6 months
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Databricks Architect who remains highly hands-on as a Data Engineer to support data platform design and delivery for US-based clients. This role will focus on building and optimizing modern lakehouse solutions, with strong ownership of architecture decisions while actively contributing to development.
Key Responsibilities Design, implement, and evolve Databricks lakehouse solutions , following medallion architecture (Bronze, Silver, Gold) best practices Act as the technical architect while remaining hands-on in pipeline development , optimization, and troubleshooting Build and maintain scalable data pipelines using Databricks, Spark, and SQL Collaborate with US-based stakeholders, architects, and delivery teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions
Optimize performance, cost, and reliability across data workloads
Contribute to data modeling, data quality, and governance practices
Leverage recent exposure to Microsoft Fabric where appropriate, understanding how it complements or integrates with Databricks-based architectures
Required Skills & Experience Strong experience as a Databricks Architect and/or Senior Data Engineer Proven, hands-on experience implementing medallion architecture in production environments Advanced knowledge of Apache Spark , Databricks , and SQL Experience designing end-to-end data pipelines and lakehouse architectures
Recent exposure to Microsoft Fabric (hands-on preferred) Ability to balance architecture leadership with hands-on engineering work Strong English language skills and experience working with US-based clients or teams
Nice to Have
Experience in consulting or professional services environments
Familiarity with data governance, security, and cost optimization in cloud platforms
Experience working in hybrid Databricks / Fabric ecosystems
